The horizontal spiral looper of the pipe welding machine is divided into three working steps: filling-storing -discharging. When the steel strips material passes through the inlet channel, it is gradually twisted from the horizontal state to the vertical state and filled into the storage tray. Materials filled into the inner ring and the outer ring of the discharging tray to form steel strip circle, and the storage amount is the difference of the circumference of the inner and outer steel rings. The discharge mechanism is similar to that of the feeding. When the strip is taken out from the inner ring, it is gradually turned from the vertical state to the horizontal state through the outlet channel, and enters the forming unit.

Discharge step of the welded pipe unit: The strip in the horizontal spiral looper needs to be sent out to the unit by the discharging pinch rolls, and the feeding speed should be equal to the speed of the welded pipe. In order to achieve synchronization with the production speed of the unit, some horizontal spiral loopers adopt a variable-coil working system, and the charging is active. The materials fed into the looper by the feeding pinch roller, and the discharging becomes passive. The speed at which the steel is discharged is determined by the forming speed of the  forming machine. In this way, the dischage and feeding of the looper is independent, which ensures the normal and continuous production of the unit.
